A Word From The #1 Son

By Curtis Fong

Dear Mom -

I would like to take this time to wish you a happy 70th birthday. This milestone compels me to reflect upon the past and the many different experiences we had growing up together.

I remember you used to scold us for making fun of each other when we were kids. Even today we still we still do a little teasing. I know you don't like us to be disrespectful even if no one takes it seriously; and I've gotta admit, sometimes those opportunities are hard to pass up. But you really make a good point because when you think about it, many people who have committed bad deeds or evil acts have themselves been treated poorly and/or with disrespect. This is why it's important to treat people with civility and respect like you do.

So even if you weren't my Mom, I'll always remember you as a good person; someone who cared and treated others with compassion and dignity. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for being my Mom. May the best years of your life still lie ahead.
