Hong Yee Turns 80!
Former Owner of Triangle Liquor Bans Alcohol at His Dinner
Octogenarian Philip Hong Yee celebrated his 80th birthday on Sunday, May 19, 2002. Family and friends gathered at Holiday Villa Restaurant in Sacramento to wish the Fong Clan elder a happy birthday. His daughter, Jackie Chan (no relation to the action movie star), greeted the guests and said that her father wanted to keep the program short and just let the people eat. And so they did, taking down a sumptuous Chinese banquet that made every delirious.
Youngest son, Robert Yee, gave a toast and told some amusing anecdotes about his parents and made them blush. Grandson, Eric Yee, called his Ye Ye a kind and caring man who had picked him up from school everyday since he was small. Rumor has it that he will attend UC Irvine and bring his grandpa with him to chauffeur him.
Hong Yee rose to fame when he opened Triangle Liquor in 1961. He has since been a perennial figure in the Fong Clan. These days he spends his time playing golf, dancing and gracing all the family functions with his presence.
Happy Birthday, Uncle Hong!
